Welcome to the Online Home of our
East Rockaway Martial Arts School.
In a moment, I'm going to tell you a surprising, though classic, tale of martial arts. It reveals how martial arts is not just about punches, kicks & self-defense...
... but how it's an incredibly transforming way of life.
Now, while the names have been left out of this story, I assure you of its truth. And from my many years in the martial arts world, I can tell you that this story has happened hundreds...
... if not thousands of times in the past.
And while this story is about a child, and what happened when martial arts entered his life, it applies just as strongly to adults of all ages, shapes and sizes.
Without further ado, here's the tale.
There was once a child who simply “drifted” through life. Nothing excited him too much, and nothing upset him too much. He was even keel. On the surface this seemed fine...
... but his parents began to worry. Nothing seemed to ignite any passion in this child. Nothing lit his “inner fire”. And as hard as the parents tried to find something that would... the child quickly lost interest in anything he was involved with.
Then the parents caught wind of martial arts. Perhaps it was through talking to other parents, or perhaps they came across a website like this one.
Whatever it was that brought them to martial arts - they became eternally grateful for it.
Because within one week of martial arts training, their son was a completely different person.
His smile was brighter. He couldn't wait for martial arts class every day. He became disciplined, respectful, and focused. He practiced with all of his heart in class, and with equal passion at home.
Through striving to learn every move - and advance through the ranks - he learned goal setting, ambition, confidence, and focus.
His grades improved. His relationship with his friends, parents, teachers and everyone else improved.
He was growing into a fine young man. One who was gaining the skills for success in all areas of life.
Now, as I mentioned, this story applies to more than just children. It applies to men and women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and up. It applies to teenagers. It applies even to children as young as 4 and 5.
Martial arts isn't just punches and kicks. It's a way of life. It's about reaching out for whatever you want in life, and having the discipline to do the hard work that it takes to succeed.
Here in our East Rockaway martial arts school - we strive to teach every one of our students these powerful life skills.
That way you can live more strongly, confidently, and more happily.
I hope to see you soon for your first class. Then you can see what I'm talking about firsthand.

MMA-or mixed martial arts-is a sport which combines aspects of popular, powerful martial arts from around the world. The goal in combining these different disciplines is to give MMA fighters the most well-rounded offensive strikes and defensive maneuvers possible. Fighters train to attack and defend from both standing and laying positions.
Some of the martial arts that are often taught in Mixed Martial Arts are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Judo, wrestling and Taekwondo. MMA matches are held either in traditional boxing-style rings, or in caged rings. Victory is achieved when a fighter either goes unconscious (Total Knock Out), when a fighter surrenders, or when all rounds are complete and judges score the fighters based on the attacks they were able to execute.Click for MMA Program
Kickboxing is a combination of Asian martial arts like Karate, Muay Thai, and western boxing. It uses the fluid, powerful kicks from the Asian martial arts and the fast, intense punches from western boxing. While these classes don't focus on the combat / self-defense aspects of kickboxing-and are focused entirely on fitness and fat loss-you'll still have fun learning real-life techniques used by professional fighters.
The classes also allow you to go at your own pace, making them great for men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Beginners are warmly welcome.Click for Kickboxing Program
Many kids just aren't cut out for team sports. Either they're not as athletic as the other kids, simply don't enjoy the pressure and competition, or just prefer athletics where they can learn and grow at their own paces. Kids like this who are put into team sports often experience devastating blows to their self-esteems.
They feel like they're “letting the team down”, and as such, feel lots of guilt and shame. Martial arts is an amazing alternative for kids like this. Kids learn and advance through the belt ranks at their own speeds. They get great exercise, but if they're not athletic, they're not “holding anyone back.” As such, martial arts is a great self-esteem booster for kids who just aren't cut out for team sports.Click for Children's Program
